ICC Birmingham brings in new Heads of Sales, Tech and Events
News | 05 Oct 2022NEC Group Conventions & Exhibitions has brought in three new senior roles to the ICC Birmingham this September, with two individuals internally promoted.
Becky Bohemia is promoted to the new role of Head of Sales for the ICC Birmingham, following six years’ experience working across the ICC and sister venue, the Vox Conference Venue. Ben Prior is promoted to Head of Technical Production for the ICC and Vox Conference Venue, following a period as production manager across a range of ICC events. The venue has also recruited Richard Yeomans as Head of Events for the ICC, Vox Conference Venue and NEC Conference Suites. He joins from the Royal Dublin Society. Previously, Yeomans worked at The Convention Centre Dublin.
“We are hugely invested in nurturing the talent we have in the business, and I’m really pleased to support Becky and Ben as they bring their expertise to new roles,” said Allan Boyle, Conventions General Manager, NEC Group. “Richard is a great addition to the ICC as an experienced head of events. I’m excited to see new and developed talent leading our conventions business.”
Bohemia has been promoted from Account Director for NEC Group Conventions & Exhibitions, previously leading on sales for the Vox Conference Venue and NEC Conference Suites, as well as working on association business for the ICC.

Donna Cunningham, Group Sales Director for Conventions, NEC Group, believes the time was right to create a new Head of Sales role to support the ICC Birmingham account management teams post-pandemic:
“Becky has a wealth of experience across our sales business which will be vital for us as we strengthen our strategy during the bounce-back period. We have new event and account managers joining us as the industry opens back up, and her leadership will be vital in guiding the teams.”
Prior has worked with the NEC Group for 10 years, leading on technical production for events.
“This is a great time to lead on the technical side of events,” says Prior. “The focus on technology and what we can do for clients is growing, and I’m pleased to be leading a group of multi-skilled technicians who enjoy specialisms in key areas of delivery for our clients."
“It’s been an exciting start with the Conservative Party Conference in-venue,” says Richard Yeomans, Head of Events. “There’s a real buzz amongst the team and I’m looking forward to the events we’re hosting over the next few months.”
The ICC Birmingham recently held the World Congress for Rail Research 2022, a first for the UK. It also held The ICCA Chapter for UK and Ireland in April of this year, welcoming a record number of delegates to the city for the event. This December, it will host the ABPCO Excellence Awards.
