An update from the ICC
Blogs | 18 May 2020Ordinarily, we would be welcoming thousands of delegates to events, however in these unprecedented times our venue currently stands closed and our priority is to help all customers, visitors and staff stay safe and well.
We continue to follow the advice of Public Health England and the Government, in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak and venue updates are published on our website homepage and across our social media channels.
Whilst we are unable to stage events as usual, we are working hard to reschedule affected events and prepare for the future. As always, members of our teams remain on hand to assist with general and event enquiries – by calling us, emailing us or via our contact page. Patience on response times is very much appreciated.
Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing internally and with our industry bodies and representatives to work through the many challenges and plan accordingly for a return to business. Adaptations to the previous ‘normal’ will be necessary. We are working through a range of different scenarios of how we can make the changes that will be required to host events with the health and safety of our staff, customers and visitors remaining our top priority.
The value of the events industry to the economy, and everyday life, is significant at £70bn per year. We are playing our part in lobbying government with the clear message that event activity can safely return with appropriate measures put into place to safeguard those involved.
Thanks to the resilience shown time and time again by the events industry, we are confident of a strong return to activity and we look forward to hosting many fantastic events in the not too distant future.
We will meet again, but until then, stay at home and stay safe.
